Safety Tips

Meet in safe public places

When meeting someone from a listing in person, choose a busy public location like a coffee shop, mall, or police station parking lot. Never meet at your home or theirs for a first meeting.

Never send money before verifying

Do not send deposits, wire transfers, gift cards, or cryptocurrency before you have physically seen the item or property. Scammers often ask for money before you can view something.

Be cautious with deposits

Legitimate landlords will allow you to see a rental before asking for a deposit. Be very wary of anyone who asks for an application fee or deposit before showing you the space.

Keep communication on Listoryx

Keep conversations on Listoryx until you feel comfortable. Use the built-in contact sharing feature when you are ready to share your phone or email.

Watch for red flags

Be cautious if: the price seems too good to be true, the seller is in a rush, they refuse to meet in person, they ask you to pay via wire transfer or gift cards, or the listing has poor grammar and stolen photos.

Verify tickets before buying

When buying tickets, ask for proof and only transfer payment after you verify the ticket transfer is initiated. Use the seller's listed transfer method (Ticketmaster, AXS, etc.)

Report suspicious listings

If you see something that looks like a scam or violates community standards, use the Report button on any listing, comment, or user profile. Our team reviews all reports.

If you believe you have been scammed, contact local law enforcement and report it to the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov.
